Jade works at the Future of Humanity Institute at the University of Oxford. She has responsibility for research management and partnerships for the newly-established Centre for the Governance of AI, led by Prof Allan Dafoe. She is also a researcher with the Centre – her work focuses on modelling the politics of strategic general-purpose technologies. Specifically, she examines the relationships between firms, the government, and the research community with a view to understanding how these dynamics seed cooperation and conflict.
She is also completing her D.Phil in International Relations at Oxford University, under a Rhodes Scholarship. Alongside her work at FHI and her dissertation work, she’s also a Founding Partner of Rhodes Incubator (an entrepreneurial incubator serving the network of Rhodes Scholars), as well as Co-Lead of the Rhodes Artificial Intelligence Lab (an action lab consultancy which uses AI and machine learning to tackle high-impact problems), and COO and Founder of Soul Capital (New Zealand’s first impact investment fund).
