Panel: Global Poverty

Lecture Theatre

11:55 am - 12:30 pm

Despite decades of global development programs and initiatives and some stunning progress in some regions, about 10% of the world’s population still lives in extreme poverty. Many of these people lack access to clean water, basic health care, primary education, and adequate shelter. This panel will address the enormous challenges which remain in the area of global poverty, focusing on how we can use EA ideas to inform decisions about what programs to support and where to allocate scarce resources. The discussion will cover both development research and practice, and the various interacting roles of government and private organisations.
